Surah Al-Muminun, Ayah 1-2

May 24, 2025
قَدْ أَفْلَحَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ ۝ الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِمْ خَاشِعُونَ
Certainly will the believers have succeeded: They who are during their prayer humbly submissive.
بے شک مومن کامیاب ہوئے: وہ جو اپنی نماز میں خشوع کرنے والے ہیں۔

Reflection

These verses declare the ultimate success of believers and immediately identify their first quality: humility and concentration in prayer. 'Khushu' (humble submission) in prayer involves both physical stillness and mental focus, with the heart fully present and engaged with Allah. This teaches that prayer is not merely a physical ritual but a profound spiritual communion that requires full presence. The verses suggest that meaningful prayer is a key to success in this life and the next.

Context

These verses open Surah Al-Muminun (The Believers), which outlines the qualities of successful believers. They establish prayer with proper focus as the first characteristic of those who ultimately succeed.
