Surah Al-Hijr, Ayah 9

June 23, 2025
إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ
Indeed, it is We who sent down the Quran and indeed, We will be its guardian.
بے شک ہم نے ہی اس ذکر (قرآن) کو نازل کیا ہے اور ہم ہی اس کے محافظ ہیں۔

Reflection

This verse contains Allah's powerful promise to preserve and protect the Quran from corruption or loss. Unlike previous scriptures that underwent alterations over time, the Quran has been divinely guaranteed protection in its original form. This preservation applies to both the text itself and its message. The verse gives Muslims confidence in the authenticity and reliability of their scripture as the unchanged word of Allah. It also emphasizes divine ownership of the revelation—it is Allah who sent it down and Allah who protects it, not human effort alone. This divine protection has been historically manifested through various means, including the early standardization of the text and the tradition of memorization.

Context

This verse appears in Surah Al-Hijr after mentions of previous nations who rejected divine messages. It provides assurance that unlike earlier revelations that were altered or lost, the Quran would remain preserved throughout history.
