Surah Al-Tur, Ayah 21

July 23, 2025
And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained.

Reflection

This verse describes one of the beautiful rewards in Paradise: believing parents will be reunited with their believing children, even if the children's deeds were not at the same level as their parents'. Allah will elevate the children's status to match their parents' without diminishing the parents' rewards. This demonstrates Allah's mercy and the special bond He recognizes between family members. The verse concludes by reaffirming individual accountability - each person is responsible for their own deeds. This teaches that while Allah shows mercy through family connections, personal responsibility remains paramount. It encourages parents to raise righteous children and gives hope that family bonds continue in the afterlife.
