Surah Nuh, Ayah 10-12

August 11, 2025
And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver. He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers. And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers.'

Reflection

These verses record Prophet Nuh's (Noah) invitation to his people, showing the connection between seeking Allah's forgiveness (istighfar) and receiving worldly blessings. Nuh promised his people that if they turned to Allah in repentance, they would receive abundant rain, increased wealth and children, beautiful gardens, and flowing rivers. This teaches that seeking forgiveness is not just about spiritual purification but also opens the doors to material blessings. The verse emphasizes Allah's attribute as "Ghaffar" (Perpetual Forgiver), encouraging people not to despair of Allah's mercy regardless of their past sins. This connection between repentance and prosperity shows that spiritual and material well-being are interconnected in Allah's system.

Context

These verses appear in Surah Nuh (Noah), which recounts Prophet Nuh's long struggle to guide his people. They show his approach of combining spiritual guidance with promises of worldly benefits for those who believe.
