Surah Al-Imran, Ayah 103
May 28, 2025
And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. And remember the favor of Allah upon you - when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favor, brothers.
Reflection
This verse emphasizes the critical importance of unity among believers. The metaphor of 'holding firmly to the rope of Allah' refers to adhering to the Quran and the guidance of Islam as the basis for unity. The verse reminds the early Muslim community of their pre-Islamic state of enmity and how faith transformed them into a brotherhood. This teaching highlights that unity is both a divine command and a blessing to be appreciated, while division is to be actively avoided.
Context
This verse appears in Surah Al-Imran after discussions of faith and guidance. It was revealed when various tribes who had been historical enemies were brought together through Islam, emphasizing the unifying power of faith.
