Surah Al-Nazi'at, Ayah 40-41
Reflection
These verses describe the characteristics and reward of those who will enter Paradise. Two key qualities are mentioned: fear of standing before Allah (which motivates righteous behavior) and restraining the soul from following unlawful desires. The "position of his Lord" refers to the Day of Judgment when everyone will stand before Allah for accountability. This fear is not paralyzing terror but a healthy reverence that guides behavior. "Preventing the soul from inclination" means exercising self-control and not following every desire, especially those that lead to sin. The reward for this self-discipline and God-consciousness is Paradise as an eternal refuge. This teaches that Paradise is earned through conscious effort to control oneself and live righteously.
Context
