"Say, 'He is Allah, [who is] One.'"

کہہ دیجیے کہ وہ اللہ ایک ہے۔

Explanation

This verse succinctly declares the oneness of Allah, which is the foundation of Islamic belief. It refutes polytheism and emphasizes that Allah is unique, without partners or equals. The concept of Divine Unity (Tawhid) expressed here is central to Islamic theology and shapes a Muslim's worldview and actions. This simple yet profound statement forms the core of Islamic monotheism.

Context

Surah Al-Ikhlas is one of the shortest chapters in the Quran but is considered to equal one-third of the Quran in merit because it encapsulates the essence of Islamic monotheism. The Prophet Muhammad often recited this surah in prayer and recommended it to his companions.
