Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 183
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ
"O you who believe, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you, that you may attain taqwa."

اے ایمان والو! تم پر روزے فرض کیے گئے ہیں جیسے تم سے پہلے لوگوں پر فرض کیے گئے تھے تاکہ تم تقویٰ اختیار کرو۔
