Surah Al-Hashr, Ayah 21

If We had sent down this Quran upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and coming apart from fear of Allah. And these examples We present to the people that perhaps they will give thought.
Surah Al-Hashr Verse 21

Explanation

This powerful verse uses a hypothetical scenario to illustrate the Quran's tremendous impact. If the Quran were revealed to a mountain - something we consider solid and unmovable - it would humble itself and split apart from fear of Allah due to the weight and majesty of divine revelation. This comparison highlights how human hearts should respond to the Quran with even greater humility and awe. The verse concludes that such examples are given to encourage people to reflect deeply. This teaches that the Quran's impact should be profound and transformative, that human hearts should be more responsive than mountains to divine guidance, that proper reflection on the Quran leads to humility and fear of Allah, and that Allah uses powerful examples to help people understand spiritual realities. The verse challenges believers to examine whether their hearts are appropriately affected by the Quran's guidance.

Context

This verse appears in Surah Al-Hashr (The Exile), using a powerful metaphor to illustrate how profoundly the Quran should affect human hearts and encouraging deep reflection on its message.
