... وَيُؤْثِرُونَ عَلَىٰ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَلَوْ كَانَ بِهِمْ خَصَاصَةٌ ...
…And they give [others] preference over themselves, even though they are in privation…
…اور وہ اپنی جانوں پر دوسروں کو ترجیح دیتے ہیں اگرچہ خود محتاج ہی کیوں نہ ہوں…

Altruism (ithar) is the Ansar’s hallmark—loving others’ good as one’s own even in scarcity.
