Surah Al-Jumu'ah, Ayah 9-10

O you who have believed, when [the adhan] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumu'ah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allah and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew. And when the prayer has been concluded, disperse within the land and seek from the bounty of Allah, and remember Allah often that you may succeed.
Surah Al-Jumu'ah Verse 9-10

Explanation

These verses establish the importance of Friday prayer and provide guidance for balancing worship with worldly activities. When the call to Friday prayer is made, believers must prioritize attending over business activities, as this spiritual gathering is better for them. After the prayer concludes, they're encouraged to resume their worldly pursuits, seeking Allah's bounty through lawful work while maintaining frequent remembrance of Allah. This teaches that certain times require complete focus on worship, prioritizing spiritual obligations over material pursuits, that Islam encourages both spiritual devotion and worldly engagement, and that success comes through combining work with remembrance of Allah. The verses show Islam's balanced approach - neither complete withdrawal from worldly life nor neglect of spiritual obligations, but proper prioritization and integration of both.

Context

These verses appear in Surah Al-Jumu'ah (Friday), establishing the importance of Friday congregational prayer and providing guidance for balancing spiritual and worldly responsibilities.
