Surah Al-Tur, Ayah 21

And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained.
Surah Al-Tur Verse 21

Explanation

This verse describes Allah's special mercy toward believing families in Paradise. When parents are believers and their children also follow them in faith, Allah will unite them in Paradise even if the children's deeds were of a lower level than their parents'. This reunion doesn't diminish the parents' rewards - they keep their full reward while their children are elevated to join them. The final statement emphasizes that this is divine grace, not a violation of justice, since each person is still accountable for their own deeds. This teaches that Allah shows special mercy to believing families, that parents' righteousness can benefit their believing children, that family bonds continue in the afterlife for the righteous, and that divine mercy operates within the framework of justice. The verse encourages parents to strive for righteousness and to raise their children in faith, knowing that Allah may unite righteous families in Paradise.

Context

This verse appears in Surah Al-Tur (The Mount), describing the rewards of Paradise and Allah's special mercy in reuniting believing families in the afterlife.
