This verse provides a balanced approach to worldly life and spiritual preparation. It teaches four principles: First, use Allah's blessings to earn the afterlife by spending wealth and using abilities in ways that please Allah. Second, don't completely abandon worldly life - enjoy lawful pleasures and fulfill worldly responsibilities. Third, do good to others as Allah has been good to you, making gratitude active through generosity. Fourth, avoid corruption and harmful behavior that damages society. This teaches that Islam promotes balance between worldly engagement and spiritual focus, that worldly blessings should be used as means to earn the afterlife, that enjoying life's lawful pleasures is acceptable and even encouraged, and that gratitude to Allah should be expressed through kindness to His creation. The verse rejects both excessive materialism and complete withdrawal from worldly life.
